Cowran Turkeys range free over Cumbrian pastures, picking berries from the hedgerows and foraging around open fields. At night, our birds are safely housed in barns with natural woodchip bedding and room to perch for all. This might seem like a small thing to you but it’s a big thing to our turkeys, as it gives them security and peace of mind from attack by predators – and a stress-free life creates a tastier turkey.
Finally, our birds are plucked by hand and hung for fourteen days. This traditional practice may take a little longer than more modern methods but it greatly enhances the flavour and creates a more tender, melt-in-the-mouth taste sensation.
Two birds are better than one… We suggest ordering turkey and goose together. They complement each other perfectly on your plate and there’s nothing better than goose fat for basting your turkey. We sell goose breast roasts too!
